Siena Avalon Ciancia (they/she) is a multidisciplinary, movement-based performance artist based in Amsterdam. Their practice explores identity, perception, and embodied experience through immersive, world-building approaches that blur the boundaries between reality and imagination. Rooted in physical rigor and collaborative exchange, Siena’s work invites audiences into poetic, sensorial environments shaped by movement, ritual, and presence.
Siena works internationally as a freelance performer and creator, collaborating with choreographers, companies, and multidisciplinary artists across contemporary dance, performance, and media-based practices. Their professional experience includes work with FUBUnation, Phoenix Dance Theatre, Marcos Morau, Sam Coren, Thar Be Dragons, Zoe Geyser, Tom Weinberger, Out Innerspace, Bryan Arias, Andrea Costanzo Martini, Moritz Ostruschnjak, and Lea Ved, among others. They participated in the NuovaX Professional Program in 2023 and performed as a company member with Staycee Pearl Dance Project the same year.
Based in Amsterdam, Siena actively develops and presents original work. In October 2025, they premiered their solo Communing with the Mundane, an intimate investigation of presence, ritual, and the quiet textures of everyday life. Siena will participate in Come Together (11) Festival in Amsterdam, presenting Tender Structures, a new duet created in collaboration with two multimedia artists.
Originally from Los Angeles, Siena began their training in early childhood and later studied contemporary dance at Point Park University, with additional training at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds, UK. Alongside their performance practice, Siena is a certified yoga instructor (RYT 200) and maintains a private reiki and massage practice, with an ongoing interest in somatic approaches, meditation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

I felt her gentle breezes pull me under
I shrugged it off and crawled my way back into it
A scream reached its way through me and out my lips while the water jumbled around my stomach
A cool tempered version of myself walks along this weeping earth
And I look at you for a moment with a suede tounge
But your braid has fallen out of place
And the willow tree calls me back to lounge under her waving limbs
My toes too love the moments that passed through them
“There’s a lot going on in there” said the apple tree to the whispering thoughts passing my mind.
